France

France (French: [fʁɑ̃s]), officially the French Republic (French: République française [ʁepyblik fʁɑ̃sɛz]), is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. France spans 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and has a total population of 66.6 million. It is a unitary semi-presidential republic with the capital in Paris, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. The Constitution of France establishes the state as secular and democratic, with its sovereignty derived from the people.

During the Iron Age, what is now Metropolitan France was inhabited by the Gauls, a Celtic people. The Gauls were conquered in 51 BC by the Roman Empire, which held Gaul until 486. The Gallo-Romans faced raids and migration from the Germanic Franks, who dominated the region for hundreds of years, eventually creating the medieval Kingdom of France. France emerged as a major European power in the Late Middle Ages, with its victory in the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453) strengthening French state-building and paving the way for a future centralized absolute monarchy. During the Renaissance, France experienced a vast cultural development and established the beginning of a global colonial empire. The 16th century was dominated by religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (Huguenots).

    Project

In contemporary business and science a project is a collaborative enterprise, involving research or design, that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim.

Project can also be defined as a set of interrelated tasks to be executed over a fixed period and within certain cost and other limitations.

Projects can be further defined as temporary rather than permanent social systems or work systems that are constituted by teams within or across organizations to accomplish particular tasks under time constraints. An ongoing project is usually called (or evolves into) a program.

    Overview

The word project comes the Latin word projectum from the Latin verb proicere, "before an action" which in turn comes from pro-, which denotes precedence, something that comes before something else in time (paralleling the Greek πρό) and iacere, "to do". The word "project" thus actually originally meant "before an action".

When the English language initially adopted the word, it referred to a plan of something, not to the act of actually carrying this plan out. Something performed in accordance with a project became known as an "object".Every project has certain phases of development.

    • Tips for Visiting France! | EXPLORE FRANCE

Today, I'm sharing a couple tips for when you visit France! My family is coming to visit France this week, so I thought it would be the perfect time to share a few things to be aware of and to watch out for when you come to town. Tip #1: Dog Poop Oh la la! Be aware that the French don't have the same customs as Americans about cleaning up after their pups. Make sure to be aware of where you're stepping, or you might just step in a lil poo. Tip #2: Closed on Sundays If you're planning to spend a week or even just a weekend in France, you have to know that most places are closed on Sundays (or they have limited hours). Plan ahead when you visit, and plan to spend Sunday relaxing or exploring nature! Tip #3: Cash Lovers France isn't quite as card friendly as the USA. Plan to take out some ...

Travel video about destination France. France is a country with a long and dramatic history. A country of unique flair and picturesque old towns, fortresses and castles and also a country of beautiful landscapes.Today Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. First established by the Celts, next used strategically by the Romans and then the domain of the Sun King. Paris is not a city but a feeling of joie de vivre! Les Champs Elysees is the French metropolis’ magnificent avenue and surely one of the most beautiful in the world, with wide boulevards, shady corners and large volumes of traffic. For more than a century the members of the French court languished in Versailles where incredible pageantry and opulence dominated and the king celebrated in majestic style. A hundred hectares of ingenious garden design with a strict symmetry of wide star-shaped garden paths that seem to be without end. With its historic buildings, the eighty metre high granite mound of Le Mont-Saint-Michel is like something from a fairy tale. Due to its unique location and architectural splendour this picturesque village is often referred to as the Wonder Of The Occident. The Emerald Coast is a world of foaming white surf and dramatic cliffs. Saint Malo is the proud and solemn “Town Of Corsairs” as the yacht harbour of today once contained pirate ships. The historic centre of Nice, Vielle Ville, has maintained its charm and boasts the most well displayed fish market on the whole Cote D`Azur and a fruit and flower market that each day offers fresh produce and satisfies all the requirements of its most demanding customers. This is a journey to many corners of France - a fascinating journey not to be missed!

http://www.expedia.com/Paris.d179898.Destination-Travel-Guides Paris, the capital of France, attracts 42 million visitors a year. You can start your Paris tour on the metro, on foot, or with a taxi or bicycle; the city is easily navigable on all fronts. Visit the Arc de Triomphe in the center of the city and marvel at its graceful lines and commanding presence. Built between 1806 and 1836, the Arc is one of a number of historical arches and landmarks peppering Paris. If your Paris sightseeing includes purchasing souvenirs, head to the Champs-Élysées, home of boutique shopping, numerous restaurants, and many bars, along with a theatre and other entertaining venues. Learn about culture and creativity at the Louvre, a 14th-century palace turned art museum, and check in on the Mona Lisa and her mysterious smile. Notre Dame Cathedral cannot be missed, as this imposing Gothic structure has stood since 1345. Speaking of imposing, the Eiffel Tower is most frequently used to represent Paris. Stroll beneath it to get a good idea of its height, or travel to the top for a stunning view of the City of Light. This week we are exploring the city of love, city of lights and city of art. This video will be showing you the top 50 things to do while you visit Paris. So we're wrapping things up here. What would be your one tip for visiting Paris? Well, I have recently spent a whole ten days here in summer. I would say that if you really want to visit the art galleries, the museums and all of the main attractions you should probably avoid summer and like either come in the spring or the fall or even winter. Because the lines are insane and sometimes you have to wait like an hour and a half or two hours. So how about you? What are your final thoughts on Paris? So my finals thoughts is obviously Paris is one of the top cities in the world in terms of attractions. There is going to be garbage, there is going to be lines, there is going to be some areas that are a bit of an eyesore. But there is also a lot of beauty and there is also a lot to do here. And that concludes our guide of the top 50 things to do and see in Paris. We hope you enjoyed watching, and let us know if there are other places you would add to this list. This is part of our Travel in France series showcasing French culture, French arts, French foods & French cuisine. Music in this video courtesy of Audio Network

HIIIII!!!!!! Welcome back to the same place you've always been to watch my videos only this time around shit is getting real. My new upload days are going to be Tuesday and Thursday (so yes, expect another video tomorrow.. and it's a fun one!!) I'm really going to be stepping my game up and getting back to doing the kinds of videos that made me fall in love with youtube in the first place. I hope you're all as excited as I am because things are about to get super hype and I'm so so so antsy to share it all together. Thank you as always for your love and support and for being fellow aliens along on this weird journey we call life. I can't wait to see what the rest of this year, and this online journey has in store for us. And what better way to start it than with a France adventure!?! CHECK OUT MY RELAUNCHED WEBSITE!!! It includes pictures from the trip - http://www.kalynnicholson.com/2017/05/four-days-in-france.html Huge thank you to Audiation for supplying a lot of the original music you hear in this! Braydon, you the real MVP. https://www.instagram.com/audiationofficial https://soundcloud.com/audiationofficial Check out Frank & Oak for my outfit (toronto represent): https://ca.frankandoak.com CRUELTY FREE FRIENDS - I got to speak directly with Biotherm about how they work in terms of being cruelty free, and they absolutely are. They are under the L'Oreal umbrella, but the only L'Oreal products that are still tested on animals are only the hair related products, and that is only in China to which they are actually working with the government there to find a way to change that. L'Oreal has invested a ton of money creating a replica of human skin in labs in which all of their products are tested on so they don't have to hurt our furry friends. It was really cool getting to hear how much they've changed the game over the years and also how eco-friendly they are as well since that's something I'm actively trying to adapt more into my life. They don't ruin any of the natural habitats sourcing for their products, they actually create it all in labs and use renewable resources as well as even making some of their packing biodegradable. I'm not sponsored to tell any of this to you I just wanted to share some of the things I like to learn about products and companies I get the pleasure of working along side and this is one that completely exceeded my expectations! ✱ 3.650 Hotels in Paris - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/7DPtpx Travel video about destination Paris in France. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. First established by the Celts, next used strategically by the Romans, then it served the extravagant lifestyle of the Sun King, Louis XIV until it became a hotbed of Revolution. Champs-Élysée is surely one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. It has wide boulevards, shady corners, ambient street cafes and classic Parisian buildings that are decorated with flowers. Since 1873, the Palais de l'Élysée has been the residence of the French President. At the beginning of the 17th century, Madame de Pompadour lived there and during the Revolution the liberated people cavorted in its luxurious rooms. Through a small triumphal arch decorated with scenes of Napoleon's victorious army, there is the garden created by Leotre, the Jardin des Tuileries. A bridge and fountain are the focal points of this popular park, created in typical French style. A modern glass pyramid and a fountain decorate the courtyard of the former Louvre Palace, which since the time of the Revolution has been transformed into a museum that contains the famous Louvre art gallery. Its collection of remarkable historic treasures and superb art collection make it one of the world's most famous museums with Leonardo Da Vinci´s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, taking pride of place. Situated on a small island on the River Seine is the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the 'Mother Church of the Nation'. Built on the foundations of a Roman temple and commissioned by the bishops Maurice and Eudes de Sully, it took almost 200 years to build this Gothic masterpiece. Built at the end of the 19th century as a symbol of national revival, Montmartre's Sacre Coeur has the appearance of a white, fairy-tale palace with 237 steps that lead up to the main entrance of this extraordinary structure. Its Byzantine architecture and five cupolas are reminiscent of the Marcus Dome in Venice. Of course, there are the dizzy heights of the Eiffel Tower and a great deal more. Plan to take out some cash everyday and be prepared for your credit card to not be accepted, or not work all the time. The french still love using cash! Tip #4: The Language Barrier The French are proud of their language, so they haven't been as quick to pick-up English. This is especially true for older generations. In large cities and tourist areas you can get by on English, but be prepared to slow down and take your time (or try some French) if the person you're chatting with is struggling. I suggest brushing up on some basic French before you arrive! Tip#5: Pedestrian Right of Way People pay way less respect to cars and traffic here in France, than they do in America. Don't be alarmed if you see a Frenchie dart in front of a car or a moving tram. But be safe! Follow the same rules you would in the US. Tip #6: Fine Dining The idea of customer service is a little different in France! Servers in the US tend to work for tips and the cost of service is not included in the bill. Whereas in France, service is included and you usually don't leave a tip. You'll need to be more vocal with your server and make sure to ask for your water and your bill when you are finished. They aren't as focused on pleasing you as in the US! To-go boxes also aren't a thing in France! Thankfully, the portion sizes are smaller, so it will be easier to finish your meal. But don't plan on ordering a lot of food and takng some home. Your server might give you a funny look when you ask for it to-go! //FOLLOW ME!// Blog: http://www.reganshorter.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reganshorter/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/regan_shorter //TECH STUFF// Camera: Sony a6000 (http://amzn.to/2jlvJgH) Lens: 35mm f/1.8 (http://amzn.to/2jMyNzl) Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro //SONG// I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling by Dxnzxl https://soundcloud.com/dxnzxl Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b... With a route length of 57 km (35.4 mi) and a total of 151.84 km (94.3 mi) of tunnels, shafts and passages, it is the world's longest rail tunnel, surpassing the Seikan Tunnel in Japan. This project took me all summer. The house was just being started as school let out, and the house finished up literally on the very last days before school started. I live about a half mile away (and about 200 feet lower) than this house, and I rode my bike up multiple times a day with my camera and tripod to get this footage. I went out of my way to make sure I got as much footage as possible. There were several things, like carpet, hardwood floors, driveway, grass, etc that I had to miss unfortunately, but the video still turned out awesome. This is just a small portion of all the footage. Special thanks to everyone who let me film them, I had a blast. There are some really awesome people in this video. I also thank the people at the McNaughton Homes office for giving me permiss...

Solar power in India is a fast-growing industry and as of 30 September 2016, the country's solar grid had a cumulative capacity of 8,626 megawatts (MW) or 8.63 gigawatts (GW). In January 2015, the Indian government expanded its solar plans, targeting US$100 billion of investment and 100 GW of solar capacity, including 40 GW's directly from rooftop solar, by 2022. The rapid growth in deployment of solar power is recorded and updated monthly on the Indian Government's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy website. Large scale solar power deployment began only as recently as 2010, yet the ambitious targets would see India installing more than double that achieved by world leaders China or Germany in all of the period up to 2015 year end. In addition to the large-scale grid connected solar PV ...

On May 11th 2017, Boyan Slat, Founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, the Dutch foundation developing advanced technologies to rid the oceans of plastic, announced a design breakthrough allowing for the cleanup of half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in just 5 years. The main idea behind The Ocean Cleanup is to let the ocean currents do the work. An installation of U-shaped screens channels floating plastic to a central point. The concentrated plastic can then be extracted and shipped to shore for recycling into durable products. The improvements involve the introduction of a mobile, or drifting system. Rather than fixing the floating screens to the seabed at great depths, The Ocean Cleanup will apply sea anchors to ensure the floating screens move slower than the plastic. Rather than one m...

Check out our new website for more incredible documentaries: HD and ad-free. https://goo.gl/LwMcmY In August 1951, inhabitants of the picturesque French village of Pont-Saint-Esprit were suddenly tormented by terrifying hallucinations. People imagined lions and tigers were coming to eat them. A man jumped out of a window thinking he was a dragonfly. At least seven people died, dozens were taken to the local asylum in strait jackets and hundreds were affected. Almost immediately, wild theories started circulating to explain the this mysterious case of mass insanity. There were claims of poisoned flour, contaminated water and even witchcraft. But the truth was stranger than many of the theories: the CIA had spiked the local food with LSD as part of a mind control experiment at the height of the Cold War. In this documentary, we reveal how for decades, the CIA has been using unconsenting people as guinea pigs in thousands of different experiments. Want to watch more full-length Documentaries? A somewhat grim and imposing house situated on the banks of the river Cleddau in Pembrokshire. The house is a true ruin with no windows, floors, roofing or anything! This is the sixth episode of BBC's Restoration Home, a brilliant program on the saving of 'At Risk' buildings with significant heritage. -I own nothing of the content of this film, it belongs to the BBC. The Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) is a railway tunnel through the Alps in Switzerland. It opened on 1 June 2016, and full service began on 11 December 2016. With a route length of 57 km (35.4 mi) and a total of 151.84 km (94.3 mi) of tunnels, shafts and passages, it is the world's longest rail tunnel, surpassing the Seikan Tunnel in Japan. Its main purpose is to increase total transport capacity across the Alps, especially for freight, notably between Germany and Italy, and more particularly to shift freight volumes from road to rail to reduce environmental damage caused by ever-increasing numbers of heavy lorries. A secondary benefit will be to cut the journey time for passenger trains from Zürich to Milan by about an hour and from Zürich to Lugano to 1-hour 40 minutes. The project consists of two single-track tunnels. It is part of the AlpTransit project, also known as the New Railway Link through the Alps (NRLA), which includes the Lötschberg Base Tunnel between the cantons of Bern and Valais and the under construction Ceneri Base Tunnel (scheduled to open late 2019) to the south. It bypasses the Gotthardbahn, a winding mountain route opened in 1882 across the Saint-Gotthard Massif, which is now operating at capacity, and establishes a direct route usable by high-speed rail and heavy freight trains. The total cost of the project is 9.8 billion Swiss francs, or US$10.3 billion. When completed, the Gotthard Base Tunnel will be one of the longest tunnel construction projects in the world: 20 years of constant construction and preparation.

I also thank the people at the McNaughton Homes office for giving me permission to do this. Next summer I plan on making another documentary like this, but better. If you have any suggestions, let me know :)

Today our natural landscapes also boast manmade wonders, icons of engineering and architecture. So what are the world's modern wonders? We've compiled our top seven, from the tallest building on Earth, to the longest underwater tunnel, from aviation's greatest airliner, to engineering's greatest work of art. These are our modern wonders! The great engineering achievements of the modern world are more than purely functional. The visionaries who dreamed up their imposing shapes used art and science to create structures of dramatic beauty. Our bridges, dams, and skyscrapers, dominate our landscapes, as the pyramids dominated those of ancient Egypt. They're testaments to the creative genius of humankind. In this film we tunnel under, climb up, jump off, and fly with, the greatest marvels the modern world has to offer. 2002 documentary for the Travel Channel, including the following subjects : Brooklyn Bridge The Brooklyn Bridge is a bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Completed in 1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East River. It has a main span of 486.3 metres and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. Petronas Towers The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. The buildings are a landmark of Kuala Lumpur, along with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower. Concorde Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde is a retired turbojet-powered supersonic passenger airliner or supersonic transport. Concorde was jointly developed and produced by Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation under an Anglo-French treaty. First flown in 1969, Concorde entered service in 1976 and continued commercial flights for 27 years. Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Erected in 1889, it was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. Hoover Dam Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Panama Canal The Panama Canal is a 77.1 kilometre ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres above sea level. Channel Tunnel The Channel Tunnel is a 50.5 kilometre rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent, in the United Kingdom, with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais, near Calais in northern France, beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At 37.9 kilometres the tunnel has the longest undersea portion of any tunnel in the world.

In addition to the large-scale grid connected solar PV initiative, India is continuing to develop the use of off-grid solar power for localized energy needs. India has a poor electrification rate in rural areas. In 2015, only 55% of all rural households had access to electricity, and 85% of rural households depended on solid fuel for cooking. Solar products have increasingly helped to meet rural needs, and by the end of 2015, a cumulative total of just under 1 million solar lanterns had been sold in the country, reducing the need for expensive kerosene. In addition, a cumulative total of 30,256 solar powered water pumps for agriculture and drinking water had been installed. During 2015 alone, 118,700 solar home lighting systems were installed, and 46,655 solar street lighting installations were provided under a national program. The same year saw just over 1.4 million solar cookers distributed or sold in India. In January 2016, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the President of France, Mr. François Hollande laid the foundation stone for the headquarters of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in Gwalpahari, Gurgaon. The ISA will focus on promoting and developing solar energy and solar products for countries lying wholly or partially between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. The alliance of over 120 countries was announced at the Paris COP21 climate summit. One of the hopes of the ISA is that wider deployment will reduce production and development costs, and thus facilitate increased deployment of solar technologies, including in poor and remote regions. India is ranked number one in solar electricity production per watt installed, with an insolation of 1700 to 1900 kilowatt hours per kilowatt peak (kWh/KWp).[10] On 16 May 2011, India’s first solar power project (with a capacity of 5 MW) was registered under the Clean Development Mechanism. The project is in Sivagangai Village, Sivaganga district, Tamil Nadu. India saw a sudden rise in use of solar electricity in 2010, when 25.1 MW was added to the grid, and the trend accelerated when 468.3 MW was added in 2011. Recent growth has been over 3,000 MW per year (see table below) and is set to increase yet further. Government-funded solar electricity in India was just 6.4 MW per year in 2005.

Rather than one massive barrier, the improved, modular cleanup system consists of a fleet of screens.
